Botox & Dermal Fillers
Why Should I Have BOTOX and Dermal Fillers at the Dentist?
Other than creating beautiful smiles, a dentist can create harmony between the soft tissues around your mouth and your beautifully restored teeth. A dentist’s knowledge of the head and neck match or surpass that of most physicians resulting from much training and knowledge in the oral and maxillofacial (jaws and face) area . Dentists are highly capable in delivering outstanding treatment outcomes with BOTOX and dermal fillers because face, head and neck are the primary areas of their expertise.
For our patients drawing near their retirement years BOTOX can be used to relax affected muscles to lift the mouth corners and smooth wrinkles to assure successful and satisfying outcomes.
Facial volume restoration is the future for achieving optimal aesthetic outcomes in the delivery of cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
Why BOTOX for Headaches?
It prevents headaches and migraines before they even start. BOTOX prevents on average 8 or 9 headache days and migraine/probable migraine days a month (vs 6 to 7 for placebo) at 24 weeks.
Botox is injected around pain fibers that are involved in headaches. Botox enters the nerve endings around where it is injected and blocks the release of chemicals involved in pain transmission. This prevents activation of pain networks in the brain.
Botox prevents migraine headaches before they start, but takes time to work. Patients see increasing benefit with an increase in the number of treatment cycles. One treatment lasts for 10-12 weeks, and patients reported that two Botox treatments reduced the number of headache days by approximately 50%.
So, research states the more frequent the headaches, the better the patient does with Botox.
Why BOTOX for TMJ Problems?
While there are many treatments for TMJ, one alternative therapy that shows some promise for TMJ pain is Botox, specifically in patients who have had little improvement with conservative treatments. Botox often eliminates the need for surgical intervention.
TMJ, is a common problem that occurs when your temporomandibular joint becomes inflamed. It can be caused by arthritis, trauma to your jaw, grinding your teeth, and other causes. For many people TMJ results in uncomfortable symptoms, such as jaw pain, headaches, facial pain, difficulty chewing, shoulder and neck pain, and a reduced ability to open the mouth.
This alternative treatment will help reduce your symptoms and improve your quality of life.
Why BOTOX and Dermal Fillers for Wrinkles?
Botox is injected into muscles, where it blocks nerve impulses to those tissues. The muscle activity that causes the frown lines is reduced, and a smoother look results. Without a contracting muscle beneath it, the skin has a difficult time wrinkling.
Injectable dermal fillers can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift costs. Most will fill hollows, lines, and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 4 months to more than a year.
Injectable Dermal fillers fill the line, crease, or area with one of several different substances. As a result, trouble spots nearly disappear.
