If you’re missing one or more of your teeth, you know how hard it can be to enjoy your favorite foods or to smile with confidence.
Root Form Dental Implants
See our Dental Implants page for more information.
If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, we would first evaluate to fix it with a filling, crown or other treatment. But when there’s too much damage for the tooth to be repaired, the tooth may need to be extracted — or removed — from its socket in the bone.
There are two types of extractions:
- A simple extraction – this procedure is on a tooth that can be seen in the mouth
- A surgical extraction – this is a more complex procedure, which is used if a tooth may have broken off at the gum line or has not erupted in the mouth. Most likely a small incision is made into your gum to surgically remove the broken tooth.
CBCT Diagnosis & Planning
We have this technology to help us plan our patient’s treatment. This form of digital X-ray is similar to a CT scan and allows for a 3 dimensional view of the teeth, tissues, and surrounding bone. It is highly accurate with-in a 10% of a mm to the exact size of the patient. This is a tremendous advantage to planning for implants.
In compatible software, the sensitive nerve and sinus structures are very clear. Implants can be placed virtually in the scan to locate the exact position for placement. From this, a surgical guide can be made to be used on the day of implant placement. This allows for precise, quick placement in the exact position planned.
